Description

The book reveals the deeply spiritual nature of major centres of Sufism in Pakistan and northern India. Along her meandering path to the shrines of Sufi saints in the Indus Valley, Quraeshi relies on memory, storytelling, and image-making to create an imaginative personal history and a rich body of photographs and works of art that reflect the seeking heart of the Sufi Way. The illuminating essays support and provide a scholarly context to the author's journey.

Praise

"Sacred Spaces is an ambitious attempt at proposing religious tolerance in today's Pakistan by recalling to the core values of Sufism, which is all-inclusive in nature."
Time Out Bengaluru

"One can imagine what a worthy companion this book would have been for a distinguished exhibition (curated by Quraeshi herself), but it also stands on its own, testifying to the validity of Islam as a multi-faceted, refined, and polylithic entity."
